Your first senior marketing hire. Without breaking the bank.
I build your marketing function from scratch and run it until you’re ready to hire someone full-time. You don't need 'ivory tower marketing'. I'm hands on. Story first. Then everything that story needs to travel.
One person.
You talk and work with me. I do most of the work myself.
Many specialists.
In the past 10 years I've found the deep-tech specialists I work with. I bring them in when a job needs them.
Until you hire.
I run marketing until you’re ready for a full-time head of it. Then I help you find them.
Story is where we start. And it’s just the beginning.
What the first months of deep-tech marketing normally look like.
Month one
Who to sell to first, then the story. Nothing gets built before these two are decided.
Who to sell to first
From “there’s a product” to “there’s a plan”. We pick the focus market, work out which proof each buyer wants before they sign and build the next ninety days.
The story and brand
Your tech does ten things. People remember one. I find the one that makes investors lean in and customers reach out. Everything else gets built on top.
Months two and three
What the story needs to travel.
A website customers don't leave
Most deep tech sites say "revolutionary" and hide the numbers behind a form. Yours will say what it is, what it does and what it takes to try it. If the story isn't decided yet, I'll tell you to wait. A site built before that gets built twice.
PR and investor comms
Press that writes about you. Pitch decks that land. Investor material that does the talking before you walk into the room.
From month three
The engine. It runs every week, whoever is on holiday.
Where the leads come from
The question every founder has. I need leads, and I need them now. We get them for you, whether it's lead- or demand generation.
Stories that people finish
Content marketing, the blog, the founder post you keep meaning to write. In your words, readable by people without your PhD.
Shows that pay for themselves
A trade show is your whole market standing in one hall. I decide which ones, what the wall says, what the buyer takes home and what happens the week after.
All year
The plumbing runs under everything, from the first week to the last. Built early, kept working.
The plumbing
CRM that isn’t a spreadsheet, forms that land somewhere, a dashboard your board can read, and the AI setup that does the volume work.
Talk. Build. Run.
No decks about decks. A few weeks, three steps, in this order.
Talk
30 minutes on what you built, where you’re stuck and what isn’t working. I tell you whether I can help. If I can't I tell you who can.
Build
I talk to your team, customers (and investors), then build the plan. Some companies need me weekly. Others need one sprint.
Run
I stay to join your team and lead the execution. I’m your head of marketing until you’re ready to hire one full-time.
Without marketing leadership
Another €30K website that says nothing. Another six months gone. Meanwhile a competitor with worse tech and a better story raises your round.
With marketing leadership
The story lands. Investors lean in, inbound starts, and you get to be the CEO again.
Good fit
Call me if
- You’re pre-seed to Series A with real technology and a real technical edge.
- You have the nerve to take a position, even if it annoys a competitor.
- Marketing currently lives in the CEO’s evenings.
- You want honest feedback more than you want applause.
Bad fit
Skip me if
- You want someone to post three times a week and nothing else.
- The slide with 14 logos and 9 bullet points is non-negotiable.
- You need a 40-person agency with a ping-pong table.
- “Revolutionary” has to stay in the headline.
How many days a week is ‘fractional’?
Usually one or two. Enough to own the function, few enough that you don’t pay for a full-time executive before you need one.
What does it cost?
A monthly retainer based on your needs. Normally it varies within the range of € 4.500 to € 17.500 based on your needs. Sprints have a fixed price, from € 2.500, listed on the sprints page.
Can I cancel the retainer easily?
Yes. The thing I care about most is a good working relationship. So in the first month you can end the engagement with five working days’ notice. After the first month the notice period is one month, or the engagement simply runs to the end date in the contract.
Do you only work with deep tech?
Yes. Semiconductors, AI hardware, batteries, photonics and their neighbours. I’d rather be very good for a few than vaguely useful for everyone.
How do you use AI?
As a team of fast juniors that never sleeps. Research, drafts, builds. The thinking, the judgement and the final word stay with me, and nothing ships unverified.
What happens when I hire a full-time marketer?
Then I did my job. I help you hire them, hand over a working function and can stay in the loop for strategic oversight. Or vanish. I'd like to stay in touch though.
Let’s figure out your story.
You tell me what you built and where you’re stuck. I tell you honestly whether I can help.
Or just walk in at High Tech Campus.
